SACRAMENTO, Calif. —
Today’s cloudy weather is a prelude to a wet week ahead.
Showers arrive in the foothills and the Sierra Monday morning. This will be rain as the region sits in the warm sector ahead of an approaching cold front.
Meanwhile, valley highs will climb into the mid-70s. Farther south in the San Joaquin Valley, where a bit more sun is expected, afternoon highs will reach the low 80s. Foothill highs will peak in the upper 70s, while the Sierra will see stormy weather with highs only in the low 60s. Monday’s storms could produce thunder and lightning, especially along the crest and to its east.
The valley will likely remain dry until late evening as the cold front approaches. Overnight showers are anticipated, then drying as we transition into Tuesday morning.
