PITT COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - Police captured an Enfield man on Sunday after a deputy tried to stop a vehicle for reckless driving in Pitt County, prompting a car and foot chase.

Around 2:45 p.m. yesterday, a deputy said they noticed a careless driver on Highway 11 near Staton Road. They said the man drove off when they tried to stop his car.

A subsequent car chase lasted around 8 miles, ending on East 4th Street near Saint Peter Catholic School. The car crashed, and the driver ran off. ECU police eventually captured him at the school.

There were no reported injuries during the car crash.
