BRUNSWICK COUNTY, N.C. (WBTW) -- A 40-year-old Oak Island man is being held without bond, accused of killing three people and injuring five others in a Saturday night mass shooting.
Nigel Edge, 40, made an initial appearance Monday in Brunswick County Court on three counts of first-degree murder, five counts each of attempted first-degree murder and assault with a deadly weapon.
Chief District Court Judge Scott Ussery ordered that Edge be held without bond ahead of an Oct. 13 probable cause hearing.
Edge reportedly shot multiple people at the American Fish Company bar in Southport from a boat just offshore about 9:30 p.m. Saturday.
He then fled to a nearby boat launch when he was located and detained by a U.S. Coast Guard patrol.
This is a developing story.
