It started as a routine patrol for Metro Nashville police officers Steve Combs and David Willover, only they were a couple thousand feet in the air.

Instead of an MNPD cruiser, they were cruising in 2,000 pounds of flying steel.

Combs, an aviation pilot, and Willover, a tactical flight officer, were flying the Music City skies on Sept. 10 when they spotted an Infiniti Q60 driving 115 miles-per-hour on Interstate 40. The crew quickly notified ground units. Detectives radioed back, saying a stolen Infiniti matched their description.

Combs followed as the chopper's onboard camera tracked the Infiniti to 4608 Tennessee Avenue.

Willover saw a suspect exit the driver's side door and place items inside another nearby vehicle.
