Yellowknife Metis author Bonita Nowell, who wrote about her mother in her book 'My Mother’s Legacy,' expressed both humility and inspiration from meeting and working with diverse individuals from the community and throughout the nation.

“I have gained a much broader understanding of truth and reconciliation from the tireless work of my mother, Angie Crerar, and the many, many Indigenous and non-Indigenous people who continue to work together on various TRC [Truth and Reconciliation Commission] 94 Calls to Action, locally, territorially, provincially, nationally and internationally.

“To these champions, I say, thank you. I see you, I hear you, and I value the good work that you are doing with so many others on behalf of those tomorrow,” Nowell said.
