MONTPELIER, Vt. (WCAX) - Vermont and New York are among a dozen states suing the Trump administration over withholding funding for programs aimed at safety and security.
The Trump administration announced over the weekend that states that refuse to divert local police to help with immigration enforcement could miss out on grants for flood mitigation, anti-terrorism, and cybersecurity.
States now have one year instead of three to spend the money, which leaders say would disrupt projects.
“Very likely, jurisdictions are not going to be able to spend their money. It’s not going to be available for them because they have planned for a three-year time period to get it done,” said Vermont Attorney General Charity Clark.
