FOLLY BEACH, S.C. (WCBD) --While the sudden shift in Imelda’s path is sparing the Lowcountry from more serious damage, impacts are still being felt along the coast.
Imelda is still churning off Charleston's coast and pushed in waves between four and six feet at Folly Beach, on Tuesday.
"They're pretty big today and we just got dragged like 8 streets down trying to surf out there," said Vann Hagood, a surfer at Folly Beach. "Pretty big for Folly not what we’re used to.
Imelda is also bringing a strong rip current risk. Folly Police and Fire are back to regular operations which means no extra beach patrol and no lifeguards.
Surfers said they had already pulled multiple people out of the water.
