SALEM, Ore. - The Oregon Department of Human Services (ODHS) announced on Tuesday federally mandated changes to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) in Oregon following the July 4 passage of federal law H.R. 1.
ODHS officials said that more than 313,000 Oregonians enrolled in SNAP may be impacted by these changes. Dana Hittle, co-leader of ODHS’ federal response team, emphasized the urgency for families to prepare for potential impacts.
"Oregon families enrolled in SNAP receive an average of $300 a month, and any reduction makes it harder for families to put food on the table," Hittle said.
