GRAND FORKS — Northlands Rescue Mission is rolling out a new way to celebrate kindness and service in the community.

The organization will host its first Community Vision Awards and Banquet on Thursday, Oct. 16, at the Pearl Events Center.

The evening will feature a silent auction, dinner catered by Ely’s Ivy, and an awards program honoring local leaders, volunteers and partners who support human services.

Organizers say the banquet is about recognizing everyday people who choose compassion and action.

“It’s important, even if it’s just for rejuvenation of spirit, to ensure that, you know, those that go unsung, don’t go unseen,” said Everett Jones, executive director of Northlands Rescue Mission.
