Game 2 of this National League Wild Card series is do-or-die for the Cincinnati Reds. After the Los Angeles Dodgers took Game 1, the defending World Series champions now have the chance to sweep the series and move on to the NL Division Series.
Game 1 turned into a home run derby for the Dodgers. The home side powered to a 10-5 win behind five home runs, including two each from NL-MVP contender Shohei Ohtani and Teoscar Hernandez. Tommy Edman chipped in with a solo shot, and the Dodgers put Hunter Greene and the Reds’ bullpen under pressure all night.
On the mound, Blake Snell gave LA seven innings of two-run ball with nine strikeouts. The Reds made things interesting late in the inning, pushing across three runs in the eighth inning, but the Dodgers’ lead was too much to overcome.
