Walmart brand food products cutting synthetic dyes, other ingredients

Walmart is eliminating synthetic dyes and 30 other ingredients from its private brand food products, the company announced on Wednesday.

The changes will come to Walmart brands, including Great Value, Marketside, Freshness Guaranteed and bettergoods.

Some of the ingredients Walmart is cutting from its products include certain preservatives, artificial sweeteners and fat substitutes.

The company said the changes will align with its customers' changing preferences.

“Our customers have told us that they want products made with simpler, more familiar ingredients — and we’ve listened,” said John Furner, President and CEO, Walmart U.S. “By eliminating synthetic dyes and other ingredients, we’re reinforcing our promise to deliver affordable food that families can feel good about.”
