OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - A man who was arrested after allegedly fleeing police in a stolen car before choking a K-9 in June has been sentenced, according to Nebraska court records.

Michael Grover, 25, pleaded no contest to a charge of operating a motor vehicle to avoid arrest. A charge of theft by unlawful taking was dismissed.

He was never charged for the alleged assault on the K-9. He was sentenced to 270 days in jail with 94 days credit for time served.

His driver’s license is also revoked for two years.

According to Omaha police, officers were on patrol near NW Radial Highway and Hamilton Street at about 1:20 a.m. June 28, when they witnessed a vehicle run a stop sign and jump the curb.

The driver, later identified by investigators as Grover, was tailed by the officers and the police
