AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - A Richmond County deputy was shot during an officer-involved shooting on Washington Road early Thursday morning.

The sheriff’s office says around 12:38 a.m., deputies responded to a robbery, where the complainant said he was robbed at gunpoint at the Super 8 on Washington Road.

The subject was identified as Ricordo Clay, according to deputies.

Suspect charged in shooting, police chase in multiple counties

A shooting led to a police chase in Jenkins County on Monday afternoon, according to authorities.

Upon deputies arrival, Clay began running on foot. He then opened fire.

The sheriff’s office says a deputies was struck. The deputy was transported to the hospital for their injuries.
