Baltimore City is offering developers and individuals grant money to help redevelop vacant homes in the city.
Applications are open now through Friday for the city’s affordable housing Tax Increment Financing program. To apply, tap here.
Todd Scott is the founder of We Rise, a nonprofit that turns vacant properties into affordable homes. Scott said he has big plans for a block along East Federal Street in Broadway East.
“I envision every vacant house on this block to be occupied,” Scott said. “To be occupied with homeowners as well.”
Grant amounts vary, but the goal is to provide up to $150 million in grants over time. The city borrows the money and it will be paid back through property taxes from the people living in the homes.
Recipients are expected to be announced in November.
