WASHINGTON (Gray DC) - Heightened tensions in Washington Thursday as the blame game continues, and federal workers prepare for mass firings.

Wednesday saw the U.S. Senate attempt to vote on two partisan short-term funding bills, but just like their previous attempts, both failed to reach the 60 vote threshold necessary to break a filibuster.

Senators won’t vote Thursday as they observe the Yom Kippur Jewish holiday. The earliest Americans could see any change in a government shutdown would be Friday afternoon.

Meanwhile, both sides are pointing the finger across the aisle, and now, federal agencies are getting involved. Notices posted on federal websites and sent in newsletters blame the “radical left” for shutting down the government.
