ST. JOSEPH, Ill. (WCIA) -- The St. Joseph-Stanton Fire Protection District has seen about one field fire daily across the county amid the statewide drought, which has led to a burn ban being issued.

Thursday morning, St. Joseph-Stanton FPD said on Facebook they have recently been observing approximately one field/vegetation fire a day. As a result of this, mixed with the extremely dry conditions as of late, the fire protection district is issuing a burn ban for the area they serve.

The burn ban has been put in place in an effort to ensure safety throughout the community. This means that all outdoor burning within the district is prohibited, including but not limited to: • Campfires / bonfires • Agriculture burns • Open fire pits • Trash / waste fires • Fireworks • Yard waste
