Within three minutes of receiving a 999 call police were at the scene following a terror attack outside a synagogue in Manchester this morning (October 2).

Greater Manchester Police were called at 9.31am this morning by a member of the public who saw a car being driven towards people outside of the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue on Middleton Road, Crumpsall.

Firearms officers were deployed at 9.34am and minutes later the suspect was shot dead. Two members of the public were killed in the attack while three others remain in a serious condition.

A huge cordon was put in place following the attack and security across the city was stepped up. The attack took place on Yom Kippur which is the holiest date in the Jewish calendar.
