Wells Fargo laid off 50 employees working in downtown Portland this week, the latest in a string of Oregon job cuts the bank has made over the past year.
The laid-off employees worked in the Wells Fargo Center on Southwest Fifth Avenue. Most of the 50 worked in the bank’s financial crimes division.
The company said workers will be paid through Nov. 28 and will receive severance benefits based on the number of years they have worked for the bank, plus continued health insurance coverage for an unspecified period.
Wells Fargo didn’t explain the layoffs in its notice and didn’t respond to a request for additional information.
The Oregonian/OregonLive reported a year ago that the bank planned sweeping cuts to its Oregon work force in 2025, consolidating operations at offices in other stat
