SPARTANBURG COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) - Former Spartanburg County Sheriff Chuck Wright is facing 65 ethics charges related to spending taxpayer money on personal items, including cigarettes and electronics.

63 of those charges are related to unlawful purchases made with a Spartanburg County credit card.

The South Carolina State Ethics Commission claimed Wright spent more than $17,000 at various stores, restaurants and businesses.

Additional purchases include products from stores and gas stations for snacks, medicine, and cigarettes. Wright also made electronic purchases for Apple Music and other subscription services, including Amazon Prime and PureFlix.

The last two ethics charges are related to the hiring of Wright's son at the Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office.
