LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - On Wednesday, Oct. 1, current Associate Judge for the Webb County Courts at Law, Leticia Martinez Mendoza, announced her candidacy for Webb County Court at Law 1 judge.

The seat is open following the retirement of Judge Hugo Martinez.

According to a press release, Martinez Mendoza was born and raised in Laredo and graduated from Nixon High School. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Texas at Austin and a Juris Doctor from the University of Texas School of Law.

Martinez Mendoza previously served as an assistant Webb County attorney and currently serves as an associate judge for the Webb County Courts at Law.
