CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) -- The sweetest run in the CU is making a comeback. Champaign-Urbana Special Recreation announced on Thursday that its annual fundraiser will take place early November.

The 2025 Cupcake 5K will begin at 9 a.m. on Nov. 2 at the Carle at the Fields. Runner, walkers and rollers are invited to sign up for the race. Kids under 10 can compete in a 100-meter dash.

The money raised from the event goes toward the CU Special Recreation Scholarship Program. The CUSR was created from a partnership between the Champaign and Urbana Park Districts and is meant to provide recreation programs for people with disabilities. The scholarship program allows them to register for programming at half the usual cost.
