TUSCALOOSA Ala. ( WBRC ) - A west Alabama school district is launching a new program to fill their need for more special education teachers.
The Tuscaloosa City Schools district is working to fill positions that have been open for a year and they are looking at the talent they already have.
The district has six positions to fill - not a large number, but large enough because there are students who face a critical need.
The love of teaching children with disabilities continues to bloom for Jasmine Ivey, ten years after taking her first step in the classroom.
Just the mere thought of what Ivey does on a daily basis brings her to tears in a beautiful way.
“You’re about to make me emotional. Whew. When I look at my students, is see perseverance. I see determination,” Ivey said.
