DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) -- New procedures have been put into place ahead of Friday’s Springfield-Wayne game at Heidkamp Stadium.
The changes put in place ahead of one of the fiercest rivalries in the Miami Valley by Huber Heights City Schools were made in the name of safety.
The most notable: a change in gametime. Rather than the usual 7 p.m. kickoff, the game will instead begin at 6 p.m. Gates will open at 5 p.m.
"We feel like this would be a good move to start it earlier, get things going a little bit earlier, get things finished a little bit earlier,” said Jason Enix, superintendent of Huber Heights City Schools. “So that we could potentially avoid, you know, some of the after game, issues that sometimes plague, not just Wayne, but other schools."
