DULUTH, Minn. (Northern News Now) - A piece of the Incline Railway in Duluth’s Kenwood neighborhood is deemed historical, and now there’s signs to show it.

Duluth city leaders joined Parks and Recreation staff Thursday for a ribbon-cutting to showcase the incline stairway on East Skyline Parkway.

The set of stairs once served as a part of Duluth’s incline railway system, when that was the main way to get up and down the hillside.

“Once I found out the great history of it, I found out this really does need to be told because it’s been lost,” said Doug Stevens with the Duluth Preservation Alliance. “We were able to raise more than enough money for everything so we even have some money to do some maintenance in the future.”
