ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - Georgia Tech police are set to open a brand new security hub in an effort to expand their presence as the campus population grows.

“Safety is very important you don’t want anybody out here getting hurt,” said Jonathan King, who lives in off-campus housing.

The new hub is a collaboration between Georgia Tech, the Midtown Alliance, and the Atlanta Police Department. It will service the Georgia Tech campus, and will focus on its businesses and off campus housing.

“We are literally right behind them and be right here where they live,” said Robert Connolly, Georgia Tech Police Chief.

“Obviously, if you come in the doors, you can see we have a lot of our cameras,” said Rich McNevin, Georgia Tech Police Captain.
