ATLANTA — A day after the Court of Appeals denied his request to stay in the United States, the family of Atlanta-based journalist Mario Guevara says he is expected to be deported Friday morning.

Guevara was arrested on June 14, 2025, while he was covering the "No Kings" protest in DeKalb County. He was taken into custody by Doraville Police on walking in a roadway and obstructing police officers charges. Those charges were later dropped. However, he still faced charges in a separate case in Gwinnett County for reckless driving, failure to obey a traffic control device, and unlawful use of a device while driving.
