CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - Charlotte Area Transit System and city leaders were scheduled to discuss security changes coming to the public transportation system.

The changes were expected to be made during an 11 a.m. announcement on Friday, Oct. 3. Those comments will be streamed in the video player above.

Mayor Vi Lyles, City Manager Marcus Jones, and Interim CATS CEO Brent Cagle were expected to be in attendance.

The changes came after 23-year-old Ukrainian refugee Iryna Zarutska was stabbed to death on the Lynx Blue Line on Aug. 22. Since then, CATS’s security protocols have been called into question and under investigation by federal agencies.
