OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - Mayor John Ewing Jr. and Omaha Police Chief Todd Schmaderer are having a news conference at noon Thursday afternoon to give an update on last weekend’s traffic stop of Bud Crawford.

Record-setting boxing champion Terence “Bud” Crawford was pulled over hours after his celebratory parade on Saturday. Omaha Police said the traffic stop happened at about 1:30 a.m. Sunday in the area of 12th Street and Capitol Avenue after officers reported the car was driving recklessly.

OPD said an officer observed a firearm in the car while speaking with the driver, who was identified as Crawford.

For safety, according to police, all four occupants of the car were ordered out of the vehicle at gunpoint.
