Rite Aid has officially shuttered all of its stores nationwide, ending a 62-year-run as a staple in the U.S. pharmacy industry.
“All Rite Aid stores have now closed,” stated the retailer’s website . “We thank our loyal customers for their many years of support.”
The website now directs shoppers to locate their new pharmacy if their prescriptions were transferred elsewhere. It also includes resources for requesting records such as prescription and immunization history.
The embattled pharmacy chain first filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in October 2023 , citing slumping sales and a Justice Department complaint alleging excessive fills of opioids as the cause. Hundreds of stores have closed since , including both Staten Island locations in New Springville and Eltingville .
