Cory Sandhagen overlooked Jon Jones when naming his greatest American UFC fighter in history as he instead opted for Chuck Liddell.

Liddell was the face of the UFC in the mid-2000s when he became the promotion's light heavyweight champion, scoring seven consecutive knockout victories over fellow MMA legends like Tito Ortiz and Randy Couture in his prime.

Jones, meanwhile, still holds the record as the youngest UFC champion in history and is widely viewed as one of the greatest mixed martial artists of all time .

Sandhagen, however, placed Liddell on a pedestal above Jones when speaking to TNT Sports ahead of his own fight at UFC 320 .
