PIERRE, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - AG Marty Jackley announced that a Watford City, N.D. man has pleaded guilty to vehicular battery, after an incident at the 2024 Sturgis Motorcycle Rally.
Robert Shipp, 37, faces a 10-year maximum sentence.
The incident stems from the 2024 Sturgis Rally, when Shipp was operating a motorcycle and hit a female pedestrian at the Buffalo Chip Campground.
As a result, a female pedestrian suffered a major brain injury.
“This was a violent crime that could have been avoided,” said Jackley. “The victim is suffering long-term consequences because of the defendant’s actions.”
