With a provincewide teachers’ strike in the wings, Education Minister Demetrios Nicolaides said students enrolling in home education programs during the strike will be unenrolled from their school, and might not be able to return to that school when the strike ends.

“If families choose to enroll their children in a home education program during the teachers’ strike, they would no longer be registered at their public, separate or francophone school,” said a late Friday news release from Nicolaides.

“If they end the home education program, they are not guaranteed to return to the same school they attended prior to making the change to home education,” he said.

All school districts are required to do is to place returning students within a school in that district.
