BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WBRC ) - Disparaging remarks aimed at the Alabama State University Honeybees are making waves online this week.

The comments came from an announcer with Florida A&M University’s Marching 100 Band during a halftime show this past Saturday.

The Southwest Athletic Conference (SWAC) has announced repercussions, but some say the response doesn’t go far enough. A former member of the Honeybees, a collegiate plus-sized dance team, voiced her concerns over the incident.

Online video captures the halftime performance at FAMU, where the announcer stated, “The Honeybees are the new face of Ozempic.”
