BERRIEN COUNTY, Mich. (WNDU) - A 19-year-old male swimmer, identified as Micah Harris, drowned in Lake Chapin in Berrien Springs, on Saturday, Oct. 4.
Emergency personnel were dispatched to the area of S. Main St. at Lake Chapin at 4:01 p.m., for a report of a missing person.
An investigation revealed that multiple people had been swimming, and were trying to swim to the bridge pylons, located in Lake Chapin.
Harris had trouble then went under the water, and life-saving efforts were attempted by other swimmers and boaters but were unsuccessful.
The Berrien County Sheriff’s Office Dive Team conducted a search and recovered Harris’s body at 7:57 p.m.
This incident is currently under investigation.
