LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Louisville's mayor announced on Monday that shootings and homicides are down in the Metro by between 25% to 30%.
Mayor Craig Greenberg credited Metro Government's Office of Violent Crime Prevention as one of the reasons for the downturn in violent crime during his news conference Monday.
That work primarily revolves around implementing Metro Government's Safe Louisville Plan, which aims to reduce crime in Louisville year after year through intervention, prevention and enforcement strategies.
The Office of Violent Crime Prevention just released a report that looked at data from fiscal year 2022 to fiscal year 2025 to better understand the gun violence epidemic. It also details how the department is working to address and prevent violent crime in Louisville.
