MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant will be out "week-to-week" after he suffered an ankle sprain during a practice Sunday, a team spokesperson confirmed Monday.

Morant is the third Grizzlies starter recovering from an injury ahead of the 2025-26 season, which starts Wednesday, Oct. 22 with a home opener against New Orleans.

Memphis also opens the preseason Monday night against the Detroit Pistons.

Former NBA Defensive Player of the Year and All-Star forward Jaren Jackson Jr. had surgery in July to repair a turf toe, and center Zach Edey, who earned a first-team All-Rookie nod after last season, underwent surgery on his left ankle in June.
