Following a mass shooting in Montgomery where some victims reportedly fired back, experts are urging gun owners to prioritize safety in high-stress situations.

Jeff White, owner of Defense Posture, a firearm academy in Huntsville, emphasized the importance of proper training for gun owners. He said that learning to handle stress and improve decision-making could be life-saving.

"But training is ultimately at the end of the day the best thing that somebody can do to prepare themselves and to prepare themselves in a manner to where they're training under stress and they know exactly how they are going to act because in a stressful situation motor controls go out the window," White said.

White explained that many people purchase firearms without adequate training, which can increase risks.
