ATLANTIC BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) -- Interim Atlantic Beach Police Chief Carlos Castillo has been terminated from his position effective immediately, according to a letter from the town manager obtained by News13 through a Freedom of Information Act request.

News13 learned on Monday that Castillo had been suspended for a second time since mid-August. He was initially suspended Aug. 18 after a performance review with town manager Adrian Jones.

News13 obtained letters from the town dated Aug. 18, which says Castillo was placed on a 30-day suspension, and one dated Oct. 3, which says he was to be suspended from Oct. 6 until Oct. 8 due to "insubordination."

Another letter, however, which is not dated, shows that Castillo has been terminated effective Tuesday, Oct. 7.
