HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) -- Horry County crews on Tuesday afternoon worked to remove an apparent fuel tank that washed ashore near Arcadian Drive.

Officials didn't immediately say whether it was connected to a 48-foot-long shrimp trawler that sank Monday afternoon off the North Myrtle Beach coast.

Horry County Fire Rescue and police department members worked with the county's public works department to remove the tank, with the U.S. Coast Guard Southeast handling any possible leaks.

Three crew members were rescued from a raft after the boat caught fire at about 4 p.m., about a half-mile from the Cherry Grove Pier, the Coast Guard said. The Coast Guard also issued a “safety marine information broadcast notifying mariners of the potential hazard to navigation.”
