Suffolk County Police Fifth Squad detectives are investigating a crash that seriously injured a motorcyclist in Sayville this afternoon. Argelia Matutesolis was driving a mini-bus eastbound on Sunrise Highway, west of Smithtown Avenue, when the vehicle was struck on the rear driver’s side by a 1996 Harley-Davidson motorcycle being driven eastbound by Mark Pizzo at approximately 1:05 p.m. Pizzo, 56, of Lake Ronkonkoma, was thrown from the motorcycle. He was transported via ambulance to NYU Langone Hospital-Suffolk in Patchogue for treatment of serious physical injuries. Neither Matutesolis, 47, of Corona, Queens, or an adult passenger on the bus, were injured in the crash. Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks.
