On Thursday at 2:28 a.m. the National Weather Service issued a freeze warning valid from 11 p.m. until Friday 9 a.m. for Essex County.

The weather service describes, "Sub-freezing temperatures as low as 30 degrees expected."

"Frost and freeze conditions could kill crops, other sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing," explains the weather service. "Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold."
