MERIDEN, CT. (WFSB) - A 62-year-old woman was hospitalized with serious injuries Wednesday afternoon after being struck by a car while crossing in a crosswalk in Meriden.
The incident happened at around 1:16 p.m.
The woman was walking westbound across Swain Avenue in the crosswalk, according to Meriden police. The walk signal was not active at the time of the incident.
A 17-year-old driver was stopped at a red light on Swain Avenue, waiting to turn right onto East Main Street.
The woman was in front of his vehicle when he tried to complete a right turn. He didn’t notice the victim and struck her with his vehicle, knocking her to the ground and running her over.
