TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) - Cindy McCain, the widow of legendary Arizona Senator John McCain, suffered a stroke this week.

The World Food Programme, where McCain serves as executive director, said it was a mild stroke and she is expected to make a full recovery.

McCain is expected to return to Arizona to “focus on her recuperation and plans to return to WFP’s headquarters in Rome once her doctors have cleared her to resume work.”

The World Food Programme said Deputy Executive Director Carl Skau will take over while McCain recovers, and that could be for four to six weeks.
