Niagara-on-the-Lake Museum has received a $150,000 grant to ensure its exhibits are accessible to everyone.
The RBC Foundation Community Spaces Grant, said Sarah Kaufman, chief executive officer of the museum, will help fund the $5-million expansion of the building at 43 Castlereagh St.
Specifically, it will be used to enhance the structure’s accessibility. The project includes a new elevator to improve access to the second floor exhibitions, access to basement washrooms, a barrier-free service desk, automatic doors and barrier-free community space.
“This is very exciting,” said Kaufman in an interview. “This is an amazing expansion, and we are very hopeful how successful it will be.”
