HAMILTON, Ohio (WXIX) - Can the World Record for the heaviest pumpkin be broken at Hamilton’s Operation Pumpkin Saturday night? It is possible.

With the assistance of a freight truck, several sets of hands, a dolly and wooden pallets, a massive pumpkin sits in downtown Hamilton ready to be weighed for the 14th annual Operation Pumpkin.

Although there are multiple large gourds that will be weighed in the competition, this is the pumpkin that organizers think could beat the current World Record, set at 2,819 pounds.

The record was just set this month in the United Kingdom by Ian and Stuart Paton.

But will the Patons victory be short-lived?

We will find out at 5 p.m. when the pumpkin weigh-in begins.
