DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — While coach Terrence Graves is not one to put added pressure on his team, one of Southern’s veteran players was willing to call its contest against Bethune-Cookman a “must-win game.”
Southern entered losing four of its first five games for the first time in 25 years and faced the possibility of losing a second Southwestern Athletic Conference game. The reigning Southwestern Athletic Conference West Division champions had all the motivation to begin their turnaround with a win. However, they struggled as much as they have in any game.
Southern lost to Bethune-Cookman 45-14 Saturday at Daytona Stadium in Daytona Beach, Florida. The Jaguars fell to the Wildcats for the first time in program history. They now lead the series 7-1.
