VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. – Volusia County officials have issued double-red flags along the coastline, prohibiting all water entry until further notice due to dangerous surf conditions, strong rip currents and widespread debris left behind by recent tidal activity, according to a news release.

The warning comes as the Jetty Connector in Ponce Inlet sustained significant damage early Saturday following another round of “severe tidal activity.”

Officials said the structure has been closed to the public since Hurricane Imelda, when it first suffered tide-related impacts.
