NORCROSS, Ga. — A fire ripped through a Norcross apartment building early Sunday, displacing 60 residents but causing no injuries, according to Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services.

Crews were called to the Reserve at Gwinnett apartments at 1780 Graves Road NW just before 3 a.m. after a neighbor reported seeing flames on the top-floor balcony of a unit. The caller also said they were helping evacuate the building.

When firefighters arrived, they found heavy flames on the front side of a three-story split-level building. Crews began an offensive attack on the third floor, using a handline to knock down the fire. But as flames spread to a second apartment and into the attic, crews were pulled from the building and shifted to a defensive operation.
