The UK snow blast in October could be worse than initially envisaged - with three inches being dumped on the country. Maps and charts, from WX Charts, show data from the Met Desk - and hint at flurries being likely.

Snow is forecast for the UK in mid-October, around October 22, with 7cm - or three inches - accumulating at its worst. Snow could kick off from 12noon on October 22, with Scotland set for a dusting of the white stuff.

It could mark the first snow of autumn north of the border, with a 130-mile radius at risk of seeing 2cm of snow falling per hour. The most significant snow is expected to be settling over high ground near Loch Monar.
