AKRONK, Ohio (WOIO) - The gunman who “unintentionally struck” a woman while firing shots outside a Merriman Valley night club is on the loose, Akron police confirmed, and detectives need help finding the culprit.

APD said officers were sent to Empire Lounge in the 1800 block of Merriman Road for a shooting at approximately 2:29 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 12.

Officers arrived to find a 24-year-old woman suffering from a gunshot wound in her abdomen, according to APD.

APD stated officers provided emergency medical care until paramedics arrived.

Paramedics took her to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, said APD.

Witnesses told police that a large group of people got into an altercation in the parking lot, APD shared.
